This story, albeit very short, was written again in a creative writing workshop (big surprise!!).  The assignment was to write in third person limited, and I struggled with it and secretly cussed out my instructor several times.  And I also think I re-wrote this story about fifty times before I turned it in.  My instructor gave me great constructive criticism and I finished it and started sending it out to journals all over.  This one was picked up around Christmas time (seeing a trend here?). This literary journal was kind enough to pick up one of my short stories I wrote while in a creative writing workshop.  I was notified of the acceptance after many rejections right around my birthday.  It was the best birthday present ever!!!  This story is called The Last Meal and I was inspired by a small barking dog in a condo outside of my office window.  Ever been on a conference call with a little dog behind you barking it’s head off?  If not, can you imagine it?  This is what my annoyance did for me that day.  So in a way, I guess I should thank the unseen owners who left their dog in a condo to have it bark for six hours.
